The SHIP funds are generally received in a yearly cycle that begins in July of each
year. Only a limited amount of funds are available for the down
payment / closing cost assistance. Funds are provided to clients on a
first-come, first-ready, first-served basis. Depending on the volume
of requests for assistance, it is possible that one year's funds may be
fully expended prior to the receipt of the following year's funds.
Additional Restrictions
Other restrictions may affect the
availability of funds. The SHIP program we work with requires that funds be
distributed across income categories. Refer to the information on
Program Income Limits to see
what income category your household may be in.
Additional regulatory requirements
may also affect availability. Please refer to the chart below to see what
funding programs are currently available for your income category and the
location in which you wish to purchase a home.
The City of Lakeland program
requires a purchase within the Lakeland city limits. The City of Winter
Haven program requires a purchase within the Winter Haven city limits. The
Polk County program covers all other locations in the county.
